About Me
Around 1991, in my mid twenties, I bought my first vintage microphone.
Love on first sight…
As I was born in the sixties I saw Elvis and all the other great artists live on television.
The fact that I am a fan of Elvis has nothing to do with my collection. But the microphones they used these days are remarkable and unforgettable.
It was very sure the start of my interest in these wonderful beauties.
Around my sixteenth birthday I started as a deejay on a local radiostation here in Belgium which I did till I was 50 years old. I was always busy with the microphone, no wonder…
Years gone by, microphones came in. Because I only use them as a collector’s item for the moment, I had to look for a way to immortalize it and let other also enjoy from these creatures.
In 1994 I already made my first website : “Erik’s classic microphones”. I was the first European website about vintage microphones at that time. I met a lot of people and off course other microphone collectors. Special thanks to Toshio Sato from Japan, who became a friend after all our exchanging. Toshio is a recording engineer and also became a specialist in repairing ribbon microphones. Thanks to him our collection got a boost.
So, on my previous website you could find from the invention to specific microphones and pictures, all the information was available. I even won a price on a national computer magazine which I appreciated very much.
As my website was on a local server from our internet provider and as a free website they took all their websites offline 10 years later.
You know when you have little kids and a house to renovate that there is no much time left to have hobby’s. I continued to collect but the website remained closed for the time being.
Many years later it tickled so much to create a new one, and here it is.
I did a lot of research meaning technical information, the pictures from the microphones I own at this moment are all made by myself. When you have comments or questions, don’t hesitate to send me an email. I hope you enjoy your visit.
